Delivering estate-wide condition surveys to support strategic capital planning across live school environments

EDGE delivered an estate-wide programme of Asset Data and Condition Surveys across nine large secondary schools for Two Counties Trust. The programme supported budget planning and capital investment decisions over a rolling five-year period, while maintaining live educational operations throughout.

Estate-wide insight across diverse assets

EDGE undertook detailed Condition Surveys and Lifecycle Modelling for eight secondary schools across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The estate ranged from early 18th century buildings to early 21st century facilities, including one of the largest secondary schools in the UK. Surveys provided consistent, comparable data to inform estate strategy and prioritisation.

Responsive delivery in sensitive, live environments

Working across multiple live operational sites, EDGE coordinated surveys around occupied teaching spaces, safeguarding requirements and multiple stakeholders. Delivery took place during a challenging period influenced by Brexit and the Covid pandemic, requiring flexibility, clear communication and pragmatic problem solving to maintain programme momentum and minimise disruption to schools.

Supporting long-term planning and value

As a local partner with national coverage, EDGE engaged regional and specialist supply chains to support timely maintenance plan production. Survey outputs enabled proactive engagement with specialist consultants, reducing delays and improving certainty. The programme delivered robust asset data to support future capital planning, risk management and best value decision-making across the Trust’s estate.
