This project comprises the scheme design and tender of common user automatic bag drop kiosk check-in facilities across the departures check-in concourse at London Luton Airport. This includes computer simulation of passenger flows into the departures area of the terminal in order to establish terminal entry flows, check-in facility requirements, baggage flow and passenger population into the check-in concourse area.
A crucial requirement of the project is the engagement of key airport and airline stakeholders, such as the Airport Operations Director and the airlines EasyJet and Ryanair. This is done to understand their individual requirements and aspirations for the proposed automatic bag drop check-in facilities, as they need to be ‘common user’ facilities. This means all airlines that operate from London Luton Airport can use the check-in facilities and that the facilities are compatible with airlines operational and IT systems.
