Carbon Reduction Plan

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

EDGEPS LIMITED (EDGE) is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2019

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

EDGE is targeting Net Zero Emissions across its activities by 2040. This target includes all emission sources covered in PN06/21

We project that carbon emissions will decrease to 127 tCO2e by 2028. This is will be a reduction of 25 % over the previous 5 years.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction: Projected vs Actual (tC02E)

Carbon Emissions per Employee (tC02e)

As a consultancy business that is going through a growth period, our carbon emissions have increased in the previous 12-months and against our 2019 baseline. This is because our largest contribution to our carbon emissions is employee travel and committing (scope 3), and our employee numbers have significantly increased – 11% in the previous 12-months and 180% against our 2019 baseline. Despite implementation of carbon reduction initiatives linked to employee travel and commuting, such as cycle to work and BEV schemes, car sharing initiatives and promoting the use of public transport, the increase in employee numbers has directly resulted in an increase in carbon emissions. As an alternative metrics, we have calculated our carbon emissions per employee in graph 2, which shows a negative trajectory in accordance with our overarching carbon reduction plan.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2019 baseline.
Carbon reduction initiatives implemented to date:

  • Introduction of a cycle to work scheme
  • ISO14001 certification
  • Flexible working policy
  • Reduced business travel through remote working
  • Car sharing initiatives
  • Green Car Policy / initiative

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Public Transport first strategy
  • Low carbon initiatives within all of our offices
  • Offsetting our carbon impact
  • Roll out carbon training for all members of the organisation
