This project involved the phased upgrade of the existing theatre department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The main driver was to bring the theatre ventilation systems up to current standards whilst refreshing the internal finishes and upgrading the services installations within the department. The brief also required the laminar flow theatre capacity to be increased by converting existing conventional theatres.
The theatres were refurbished one at a time whilst the department remained fully operational throughout. An added complexity was that the existing theatre extract ventilation was split between two theatres. A new build theatre was constructed within an adjacent courtyard to provide decant space and mitigate any impact on clinical activity.
The project was completed on-time and under-budget, without any health and safety incidents or impact on clinical activity.
This is what our Client said: “The level of service and professionalism delivered by Edge on our ProCure 21+ programme of works has been outstanding. With Edge acting in a Joint Cost Advisor capacity, we have always felt that our commercial interest have been protected and our expectations have been exceeded.”
